OAKLAND, Calif. -The racing was exciting at round five of Supercross this past weekend at the RingCentral Coliseum in Oakland, California. Off to a good start all day Brandon Hartranft pushed hard and was able to secure a 3rd place position giving himself a good gate pick for the Main event. Derek Drake earned himself a 6th place transfer spot into the Main Event after a tough heat. Unfortunately for Drake, after another rider crashed on the first turn he found himself in the back of the pack having to claw his way back throughout the entire main event. Hartranft managed a steady pace running in 5thfor most of the race until he, unfortunately, experienced a tip over on the last lap losing a few positions. We have one race left next weekend in San Diego before our West Coast riders take a short hiatus as we move to the east coast.
“I felt good all day finishing 3rd in my heat race set me up for a good position for the main event but after the fall I had in the last lap I just wasn’t able to catch back up where I needed to be. My plan this week is to regroup and get ready to come back strong this weekend in San Diego” – Brandon Hartranft
“I know that I haven’t been able to ride to my complete potential just yet, there were glimpses last week in Phoenix but still not where I want to be. I think with only one race left in the series before we take a break I am going to try and put my head down and work hard this week so that I am able to put myself in a position where I can run up front.” – Derek Drake
This week we head to Petco Park in San Diego for Round 6!
