Pierce Brown and the Troy Lee Designs/ Red Bull/ KTM Factory Racing Team made the highly-anticipated return to AMA Supercross racing on Sunday where the rookie rider secured a career-best top 5 finish for the day. Sunday was the first of seven races that are set to take place inside Salt Lake City’s Rice-Eccles Stadium over the next four weeks without the attendance of fans.
Pierce was able to adjust quickly throughout the day with the modified race day schedule as he qualified sixth overall before lining up in 250SX Heat 1. He got off to a great start running up front with the series leaders in his heat race. Brown managed to pull out a third-place position and an automatic transfer spot into the Main Event.
In the Main, Brown got off to a sixth-place start but quickly found his way on the track after the second turn where he got mixed up with another rider. Pierce fought his way up through the pact strategically passing where he could to move from dead last. The charged effort and final push the last few laps landed Brown his career-best finish in fifth place for the day. Overall the team was more than pleased with Pierces Top 5 Finish and are looking forward to what he will bring to the table for the next upcoming races.
“I’m frustrated with myself for going down on lap 1. I’ve put in a lot of work the past few months we have been off down in Florida and I know that if I can stay up, I can be up front fighting for a podium. Overall, I am happy with my finish for today and I am looking forward to being back here on Wednesday to prove that I can and will run up front with those guys. “- Pierce Brown
The next race takes place on Wednesday, June 3rd, at 10:00 PM ET. Race times will vary; please go to supercrosslive.com for the full schedule and don't miss the action on NBC, NBCSN, and the NBC Sports Gold app.
