Barcia Battles to Seventh at Round 3 of Pro Motocross Championship

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/Gasgas Factory Racing enjoy a weekend off before jumping back into racing

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing’s Justin Barcia battled his way to seventh overall at Saturday’s High Point MX National, securing 9-6 finishes at Round 3 of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania. Despite feeling under the weather, Pierce Brown fought through the day to come away with 12th overall while lining up solo in the 250MX class due to teammate Michael Mosiman suffering a practice crash last weekend that kept him out of racing today.

Coming off a strong podium finish leading up to the weekend off, Barcia was eager to get back to racing on the MC 450F. He qualified inside the top-10 but once the gate dropped for Moto 1 he found himself a bit off from the usual intensity. With a top-15 start, he fought his way through the pack to secure a ninth-place finish in the first moto. In Moto 2, Barcia bounced back with a fifth-place start and he hovered around the top-five battle all race long before ultimately locking in a sixth-place finish. With 9-6 scores on the day, Barcia finished seventh overall at the third round.

Justin Barcia: “It was a little bit of a tough day. I just didn’t jive with the track that much and I never felt super comfortable. I think we’ll go back to California and work on a few things and try to be a lot better for RedBud in two weeks. All we can do is keep level-headed and be better for the next race.”

Pierce Brown came into the weekend a little under the weather but he did his best to power through. In Moto 1, Brown grabbed a top-five start aboard the MC 250F and he raced in the mix on lap one. He shuffled back to 10th early on and fought his way to an 11th place finish. In Moto 2, Brown nailed another great start to put himself into the top-five battle early on. He fell off the pace midway through but he pushed to the checkers to secure 14th in the moto and 12th overall for the day.

Pierce Brown: “I’ve been feeling pretty under the weather lately so I was just trying to make it through the day. We made it through healthy but it’s obviously not the result we wanted. I had two good starts, so I’m stoked on bettering my starts, but I just need to put everything together. I’m going to use this weekend off to get fully recovered and healthy for RedBud.”

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing’s Michael Mosiman was sidelined for Round 3 following a practice crash that took place last weekend. Mosiman will use the weekend off to heal up and hopes to be ready to line up at Round 4 of the 2021 AMA Pro Motocross Championship on Saturday, July 3 for the RedBud National in Buchanan, Michigan.
