Job Title: Sr Industrial Designer of Protection

Location: Corona, CA
Pay Range: $110,000 -$123,600.00 (exempt)
Reports to: Sr. Director, Global Creative Design

SUMMARY

Troy Lee Designs, the world’s leading aspirational brand of bicycle and motocross helmets and apparel, is looking for a Sr. Industrial Designer of Protection. The Sr. Designer for soft and hard apparel Protection will lead all aspects of the design process for TLD from inception through buy ready completion. This position is responsible for creating an innovative and proprietary protection product line that will differentiate itself in the motocross and mountain bike markets and create an incremental growth opportunity for the Troy Lee Designs brand.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead all design aspects for introduction of new protection product line for bike and moto.
  • Partner with bike and moto Product Manager with establishing a proprietary design strategy, direction, and design language for the entire product line, in order to create a proprietary position and maximize commercial opportunity.
  • Design best in class innovative protection that solves the demanding needs of our riders.
  • Full execution of transformation from product line direction into technical designs for entire product line.
  • Lead and maintain full execution of design and product development process from start to final buy ready status.
  • Design and develop and all trims, packaging, and manuals for all in category models each season
  • Manage comprehensive product development milestones to insure on-time delivery of quality product that is ready to go-to-market.
  • Monitor and maintain the development communication with vendors each day, style by style.
  • Monitor fabric and trim development, tracking responsibilities, and approval process to achieve product and calendar requirements.
  • Manage and monitor communication with vendor s regarding each applicable product style throughout the development cycle.
  • Manage tracking, comments, and calendar related to all product phases (Protos, SMS, PPS, TOP).
  • Address styling & fit comments during development (in conjunction with Designers).
  • Ensure all raw materials are compliant and meet necessary requirements.
  • Work with Product Line Manager on product line strategy specific to architecture, pricing strategies, and profitability targets to ensure strong revenue and gross margin targets.
  • Work closely with supply chain on product development, raw material development, certification testing, R&D requirements, etc.
  • Work with key athletes on product development and testing to ensure product meets all expected requirements.
  • Assist in product meetings at all stages from product creation through go-to market.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5-7 years’ plus of industrial design experience.
  • Significant knowledge, involvement, and understanding of the mountain-bike and motocross markets.
  • Significant knowledge and usage of design software such as Illustrator, Solidworks, Creative Cloud etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of graphic design.

JUDGEMENT & REASONING ABILITIES:Ability to recognize discrepancies and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise and diplomacy. Requires ability to use judgment and reasoning skills, and determine when issues need to be escalated.

Job Title: Custom Painter/Airbrush Artist

Location: Corona, CA
Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour (DOE)
Reports to: Manager, Paint Shop

SUMMARY

Troy Lee Designs, the leading brand in Off-Road Moto and Mountain Bike gear, protection, and accessories, is looking for a Custom Painter / Airbrush Artist to join our elite paint team. Our Artists are responsible for creating high quality custom paint jobs, graphics, and airbrush designs for pro-athletes and retails customers.

  • Accurately reproduce a painted design or illustration via sketched drawings.
  • Mix and apply paint to ensure proper paint coverage.
  • Ability to work on curved surfaces with tape, stencils and paint masks.
  • Create freehand designs to produce finished products, as portrayed in production drawings and renderings.
  • Prep and repair different types of surfaces, including filling and sanding imperfections.
  • Maintain accurate records of labor time and materials used.
  • Use, maintain, and clean airbrushes, paint guns, and other paint shop equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area while observing and implementing proper safety practices.
  • Assist other Artists with Maintaining Paint spray booth and other shop equipment.
  • Follow the daily and weekly schedule while prioritizing projects in order to meet deadlines.
  • Timely communication with other departments regarding questions and concerns surrounding quality, timeline and/or other work-related issues.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have previous experience with prepping, sanding and repairing surfaces, masking, mixing and spraying various primers and paints.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to use and/or operate basic hand tools (manual and power-driven).
  • General mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability and willingness to follow directions and be a team player.
  • Ability to work independently as needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop is a plus!
