Corona, Calif. – The Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing team continued to build momentum in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship this weekend at Washougal MX Park, delivering another impressive performance as the series celebrated Military Appreciation Weekend. With just three rounds remaining before the championship concludes, the team heads into the upcoming two-week break encouraged by the continued evolution of the Ducati Desmo450 MX and the consistent results from riders Dylan Ferrandis and Justin Barcia.
Following promising developments introduced at Spring Creek, the team continued refining the Ducati Desmo450 MX at Washougal with additional chassis and setup changes tailored to each rider's unique style. The progress was evident throughout the day as both Ferrandis and Barcia consistently battled inside the top five.
The opening moto saw both Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing riders charging inside the top six after very different starts. Ferrandis rebounded from crossing the holeshot line in 24th after getting caught behind a first-turn pileup, slicing through the field to fifth after making a late pass on teammate Barcia. Barcia put himself in the fight early, running inside the top five by Lap 3 before battling with
Ferrandis throughout the moto to finish sixth.
In Moto 2, Ferrandis grabbed one of his best starts of the season, running fourth off the opening lap and holding the position through much of the race before finishing fifth for his second top-five moto result of the day. Barcia was once again in the mix from the start, battling with Ferrandis during the opening laps before crossing the line in seventh to cap another solid outing for the team.
"The day started not so good. I wasn't completely comfortable, kind of like last weekend. The bike was similar and I struggled with pace and comfort,” said Ferrandis. “After practice two the team decided to go big and make a major chassis change, and it ended up being a game changer. Moto 1 was great. I got a bad start but came through the pack to finish P5. In Moto 2 I got a really good start and was P4 right away. Prado got by me later, so I finished P5. It's awesome to get a second top-five overall this season, so it was a good day. Good starts, good motos and good pace."
"I felt good in practice and the track was really good early on,” said Barcia. “As it got rougher and more choppy, I struggled a little. Last week I felt like I found a flow, but this week I had a harder time finding that rhythm with the tighter sections and the choppiness, which made today more difficult. I fought really hard and gave it everything I had, but it wasn't quite enough. Overall, we're still moving forward since Spring Creek, but we need that one more step to consistently be in the top five. We have a few weeks off now, so we're going to work hard, put in some motos, continue testing with the bike and come out swinging at Unadilla."
The Washougal results continued to showcase the steady progress of the Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing team as both riders delivered another strong weekend aboard the Ducati Desmo450 MX. Ferrandis' pair of fifth-place moto finishes moved him up to sixth in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship standings, while Barcia continued to close the gap in the title chase and now sits just three points shy of breaking into the overall top 10. With only three rounds remaining, the team heads into the two-week break carrying positive momentum and confidence as they prepare for the final push of the season for the final three rounds of the 2026 AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
