Troy Lee Designs’ Gwin, Moir, and Brosnan All In Top 5 at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships
Corona, Calif. (September 11, 2017) – Troy Lee Designs rider’s lined up for the 2017 Mountain Bike World Championships in Cairns, Australia ready for the challenge and the pressure of the prestigious event, taking three of the top five spots in the standings. Recently crowned UCI Downhill Expert Champion Aaron Gwin earned his first world championship medal in third, putting in a time less than two seconds off the winner. Australian’s Jack Moir and Troy Brosnan finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in front of their home country fans.
On a dry and – in some sections – rough course that was cut into the rainforest of Smithfield Park, Gwin was ready to show the fans why he was crowned the 2017 series champion. He overcame a tough first split to excel in the fast second split and put in a time in Split 2 that was good enough to earn a podium spot for the American rider.

Moir had been riding very consistent of late and wanted to deliver a good run in his home country. After a slow start, Moir was able to pull out some speed at the end of his run to finish the day in the fourth spot.
As the final run of the day, Brosnan handled the pressure in front of his home country fans like a true competitor. He rode two solid splits that placed him less than three seconds off the leader, giving Brosnan the fifth overall spot.
Several other TLD riders competed with some having tough luck on the course. Dean Lucas finished just outside the top 10 in 12th. Luca Shaw was 26th, while Mark Wallace and Charlie Harrison were outside the top 50.
